“Ms. Newman is genuinely one of the most caring people I’ve met and also the best English teacher I’ve had. She brings an incredible combination of wisdom and experience with tremendous amounts of care, intentionality, and patience. She also made harder to understand material, like Shakespeare, really interesting and funny and taught in such a way where we actually got to understand what was going on regarding iambic pentameter, asides, and the other nuances of his work. Now that I’ve moved on and taken some college level English-classes, I can pretty firmly say that I learned way more about how to be a good writer in her class than in any of my university classes or professors thus far. I’m so grateful for the time I got to spend in her classroom and am an infinitely better writer, reader, and overall person because of it.”
